The following figure presents the same data from Figure 1, but breaks results down by county. Incidents were rare in the early 1990s but have risen gradually since then, peaking in 2001. For most of the past two decades, Porter, Lake, and LaPorte Counties have had similar numbers of incidents. Lake County and LaPorte County have been consistent across the time measured, with only a few major spikes or dips. In recent years, Porter County appeared to be surpassing Lake County in number of incidents but since 2009, the number of incidents in Porter County has gradually decreased.
